The Internet is reacting to the voice of Mario for Chris Pratt

Since the internet has learned that Chris Pratt will vote Mario in Super Mario Bros. Produced by Nintendo and Illumination, one question hung above everyone’s heads: How would it sound?

Today, thanks to The Super Mario Bros. Movie Nintendo Direct, we finally got our answer. It turns out that most people think that Mario’s voice of Chris Pratt…sounds exactly like Chris Pratt. To be fair, there isn’t a whole lot to complete. In the first trailer for the movie, Mario says only two whole lines: “What is this place?” and “Mushroom kingdom here we come!” However, fans immediately noticed that it pretty much looks like Pratt is using his natural voice to speak.

While that might be an expected outcome, Pratt himself didn’t help matters by upping the ante, saying his handling of the famous Nintendo plumber was “unlike anything I’ve heard in Mario World before.” He’s technically not wrong, as Chris Pratt had never appeared in Mario’s world prior to this movie, but that didn’t stop the internet from having a field day with the big audio reveal.

But even if fans didn’t like Chris Pratt’s voiceover much, they were generally positive about the rest of the trailer.

Meanwhile, reception appears to have been more positive for Jack Black in Bowser, with the actor appearing at New York City Comic Con to show off more of his villainous voice. We’ll be able to hear more about Pratt, Black, and the rest of the cast when Super Mario Bros. hits theaters on April 7, 2023.
